Ability Orthopedics is an independently owned facility. Jim Rubel
began his career working in his father's orthotic and prosthetic
facility as a young man. After graduating from Lenoir Rhyne College
in 1984, he continued his education at Northwestern University
Medical School. He graduated from that program in 1985 and in 1990
he opened Ability Orthopedics. He works with his wife Cathy who is a
certified pedorthist and registered fitter. They have four children.
Our facilities are certified by
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC).
ABC mandates the high quality and patient care
standards that our facility must meet to maintain ABC certification.
Our practitioners, in addition to being certified by ABC, are also
certified by the Board for Certification in Pedorthics (BCP) and
The American Orthotics & Prosthetics Association (AOPA).
These Boards' certification process involves
meeting stringent standards of care and treatment in the following
areas of competency:
- Clinical Assessment
- Patient Management
- Professional Responsibility
- Technical Implementation
- Practice Management
.
To acquire these competencies and achieve certification, our
practitioners must undergo a process that includes education and
experience, as well as demonstration of their skill/competency by
examination. In addition, our practitioners are required to maintain
a prescribed amount of approved continuing education to maintain
their certification and assure continuing competency inthe care they
provide. Our practitioners provide patients with the quality care
they deserve and are focused on quality products and excellent
service.
